Golden Oldies Tour
The LOC 2 side is heading to the UK to play 3 games of cricket in the Town of Harrogate, situated in North Yorkshire, arguably the home of Cricket.
The team has entered the Golden Oldies Cricket Festival which starts on 8th August.
Sixty three teams will participate in a week-long festival and the Glen Iris cricket club will be represented by the following players:
Alan Solomon
Dieter Blaich
Eli Goldfinger
John Kilgour
Kevan Richards
Mike Bullock
Wayne Trewella
Robin Ferguson
Phil Mather
Tim Winter
Will Clarke
David Massey
Bruce Saunders
They have called themselves the Glen Iris Geldings – and hope to do our club proud. They are also supported by wives and partners and 25 of them in total will be enjoying themselves in the UK.
The Golden Oldies festival is held every 2 years and players from Glen Iris have played in tournaments held on the Sunshine Coast QLD, Columbo Sri Lanka, Queenstown New Zealand, and now Harrogate, UK. The cricket festival after this will be held in Adelaide in 2012. To participate you have to be over 40, so some of our aging club members might be interested in participating in 2012 . With and average age of 54 the LOC 2 side romps it in.
