Welcome to the 2010/11 Cricket Season. Although the season itself doesn’t commence until early October, the committee of the Junior Section of Glen Iris Cricket Club has been busy over the past couple of months preparing the way for another fantastic season.
We are looking to build on our successes and strengths of previous seasons, but also to make sure that we continue to upgrade our structures, coaching, and facilities, so that everybody who plays or is associated with Glen Iris Cricket Club gets the maximum enjoyment and development possible from their time at the club.
Player numbers continue to grow and, with 15 junior teams in 2010/11, GICC is now one of the largest clubs in our area. This is gratifying to the Club, but means that we need to do a lot of work to ensure that we maintain our first rate facilities and that we have sufficient ground capacity in the coming seasons. The committee is thrilled that so many young players have chosen GICC as their preferred club and we have therefore put in place a number of structural improvements for the coming season to make sure that we remain your preferred cricket club. These improvements will be communicated to you as we get closer to the season starting line.
Registration Of course, the first thing you need to do is to register for the season. We have enclosed a registration form, which we now need you to complete and return. This can be done by coming to our Registration Day which will be held at Dorothy Laver Reserve East, Saxby Road, Glen Iris on Saturday 4 September 2010 between 9.00 am and 11.30 am.
Alternatively, you can send your registration to: The Junior Section Administrator Glen Iris Cricket Club 108 Albion Road Glen Iris VIC 3146
Merchandise Form A Merchandise form is enclosed which needs to be completed and returned with your registration.
This season, Glen Iris CC will include a playing shirt with your subscriptions – the merchandise form is required so that we know what size shirt you require. The other items listed on the merchandise form (Training Polo, Vest and Baggy Green Cap) are optional and therefore require payment if you decide to order.
Subscriptions The Junior Committee has this year decided to simplify the subs payable, especially where two or more members of the same family are registered. In addition, we have reduced the costs of playing cricket with Glen Iris Cricket Club for all players by:
1. Reducing fees below last season’s level, and 2. Including a playing shirt plus a Glen Iris Cricket Club cap in the cost of the subs. (Cap and shirts will be available to try on for size at Registration Day and will be supplied to all players prior to their first match.
The Schedule of fees for the 2010/11 season is as follows: MILO In2Cricket $55.00 U10s $130.00 U12s – U16s $150.00
The following discounts will apply where two or more members of the same family are registered: 10% for two children 20% for 3 children 30% for four or more children
Junior Age Groups For the 2010/11 season, the Glen Iris CC Junior Section will consist of four age groups (U10, U12, U14 & U16) and MILO In2Cricket. The following people will be coordinating the respective age groups
* To cope with player demand an Under 11 team will be part of the Under 12 Age Group and play matches on Sunday mornings. Details will be provided to relevant players after Registration Day.
Age group coordinators will forward training details regarding commencement of training after Registration Day
Parental Involvement As always, to facilitate the smooth running of all teams, parental support either on game day or at training is a requirement of all parents of Glen Iris cricketers on a roster basis. It is expected that all parents can help in some way with scoring, umpiring, coach’s assistant or training supervision. Please make sure that you help your child and Glen Iris Cricket Club with the smooth operation of games and training.
To make your involvement even easier, regardless of your level of knowledge of the game of cricket, the club will be running various sessions over the season to help you with your involvement. These sessions will include coaching training and accreditations for those who are interested.
Junior Committee During the off season the club has established a Junior Committee to take responsibility of the week-to-week running of the junior section. In 2010/11 the Junior Committee consists of the following positions.
Any parent interested in filling the vacant General Committee position should contact me to discuss the role.
Social Calendar The Junior Section will also be running social events specific for the families of the junior players. The first of these will be a Season Launch / Cap Presentation BBQ on Sunday 10 October 2010. More details will be forwarded in coming weeks.
We look forward to sharing an exciting and successful season with you.
